Fur Study

The fur brush is my savior. I tried doing each individual strand but that was too tedious and it looked awful. ( I erased it, but I wish I had of kept it to compare with the fur brushes.) I download with pack- coyotemange.deviantart.com/art…
So then I tried using the multiple strand brush but still couldn't get the fur right(the first one) Then I just started using the fur brush. Then for extra details I used the one strand to make the highlights pop and to add more colors. I think its okay to use the fur brush as long as I don't rely to much on it and some hand painted strands to make it more natural.
As black/gray fur is really hard. I know you shouldn't use complete black but when I made it a little blue as I went up in value it become completely blue, so I erased it and used the black.(the 3rd one) When I used a ref and color picked on the last one I learn that is blue in it and brown. Its just not the base color. The base color is gray and I shaded it that way with a had brush. Then I took the fur brush and add the blues and browns. How ever I still have a long way to go, these aren't perfect and there are a lot of different types of fur (curly, long, wavy, ect) Anyway C&C is needed and appreciated.
